I am submitting feedback in order to register my disgust at both CityRail’s facilities and its staff.
This morning I arrived at Schofields station looking to purchase my weekly ticket to Penrith before heading to work. Alas, the ticket machine was out of order yet again and there was no sign of any station staff. This ticket machine is so regularly out of order that it is a wonder anyone traveling from Schofields has one. The fact that this station, at 6am, still was not open with a staff member available to sell tickets boggles the mind. This is simply unacceptable given that many in the area are traveling to work at that time of morning.
My next issue, with staff, occurred at Blacktown when I went to switch trains. Even though I had a reference number for the broken ticket machine at Schofields, the barrier up to the concourse from platforms 1 & 2 was open, and even after I explained to the staff member at the window on the central concourse that I wished to buy my weekly ticket at Penrith, I was rather rudely informed that I would need to buy a ticket at Blacktown to travel to Penrith.
Not only do I take issue with the manner in which I was spoken to but that fact that I was essentially being told to pay twice for the same trip. The staff member did not seek to understand my predicament let alone listen to what I had to say.
Again, I am disgusted and disappointed with the “service” that CityRail provides. It makes me wonder where the money from my now $40 weekly ticket is going.
